[accordion_father active=”0″][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Code of Conduct” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]Participants are encouraged to conduct themselves courteously, respect their fellow participants, volunteers, event staff, spectators, and the community, and follow the Rules of Competition. It is important to follow proper race etiquette at all times, including paying attention to announcements and instructions.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”An unsportsmanlike behavior” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]It is prohibited for runners to engage in abusive, harassing, insulting, or offensive verbal, physical, or other behavior. Those who behave in an unsportsmanlike manner or who exhibit offensive behavior or language toward event officials, staff, and/or volunteers may be disqualified or subject to other appropriate penalties at VIM’s discretion. Providing false or misleading information in an event application is considered unsportsmanlike conduct, as well as any other behavior that the event organizer believes is unethical, unfair, abusive, offensive, harassing, disrespectful, or harmful.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Start” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]Make sure you allow yourself enough time to enter the race and your race gate. Only enter the gate you are assigned to or a slower one.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”No Smoking or Vaping” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]There is no smoking, vaping, or use of electronic smoking devices, tobacco products, or marijuana products in the Start Corrals, on the Course, or within 1,000 feet of the Start Corrals, the Course, or the Finish area.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Smartphones, headphones, and other mobile devices” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]It is strongly discouraged to use headphones. If you choose to wear headphones, be sure to hear all announcements and stay aware of your surroundings, including other runners, and keep the volume low enough so that other runners cannot hear the sound. The use of mobile phones or other recording devices is strongly discouraged during the event, except for tracking your run and for using afterward.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Courtesy while running” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]Formation: Avoid running in groups of three or more abreast; wide groups create barriers.

Passing: Communicate when passing a runner and let others pass. Move to your right if you hear a runner behind you saying, “On your left.”. When someone says, “On your right,” move to the left.

Stopping: Do not abruptly stop. At an aid station, take water from the farthest point on the table or line to avoid congestion and continue walking. Moving to the side of the course may be necessary if you need to tie your shoes.

Spitting: Be careful when spitting or blowing your nose to avoid hitting another participant.

Noise: Portable speakers are not permitted at our events. Speakers should not be used during a race, as the amplified noise can distract other runners.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Portable toilets” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]Be considerate when using portable toilets. Do not cut in a line or into another line. Be considerate of others who will use the toilet after you.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Race attire” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]It is strongly discouraged for male participants to race without shirts or to remove their shirts during the race.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Trash” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]All trash should be deposited in the provided receptacles, including at aid stations. Use caution when discarding cups at aid stations to prevent hitting other participants.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Lost and Found Items” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]In case you find an item during or after the event, please turn it in to the official staff or road marshal. Pick-up can be arranged at EFG Laos HQ between 10am-4pm the next day.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Bag Check at Races” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]Loss, damage, or theft of bags or items from bags checked at VIM is not the responsibility of VIM.[/accordion_son][accordion_son size=”22″ title=”Violations of the Code of Conduct” clr=”#ffffff” bgclr=”#1e73be”]VIM reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to apply appropriate penalties to any participant in a VIM event who violates the Code of Conduct. The penalties may include disqualification from a race, ineligibility for awards and prize money, suspension or barring from participating in future VIM events, and any other penalty VIM deems appropriate.[/accordion_son][/accordion_father]
